Laurel police arrest two on numerous drug and weapon charges

LAUREL, MS (WDAM) -

Two Laurel residents were arrested Wednesday when Laurel Police executed a search warrant at a home in the 2200-block of 7th Ave.

Taken into custody were Peter Hastings and Kristen Beckmon. Hastings is charged with possession of crystal meth and possession of a controlled substance. Beckmon is charged with possession of a firearm by a felon, possession of a controlled substance with the intent to distribute, possession of marijuana-first offense.

While searching the home police seized crystal meth, one hand gun, and small quantities of heroin, methadone, and marijuana. They also seized an undisclosed amount of cash.

The arrest came following a two-month investigation by narcotic officers.

"We had received numerous complaints from residents in the neighborhood where these individuals were living and we also received other complaints, "said Sgt. Michael Reaves, Laurel Narcotics Investigator. "We did extensive surveillance during our investigation and yesterday we able to get our search warrant."

Hastings and Beckmon will make their first appearance in court Friday.
