Heidi Pitre chosen for Surreal Salon Exhibit

HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) - This is a news release from the Hattiesburg Arts Council

Heidi Pitre, professional artist and vice-president of Hattiesburg arts council, was one of 59 artist out of 20 states chosen to exhibit her artwork at the Baton Rouge Gallery – Center for contemporary art.  The sixth annual Surreal Salon, a national juried exhibition of pop-surrealist and lowbrow art has become highly competitive.  Only 80 works were selected by Greg Escalante, one of the most influential voices in the pop-surrealist /lowbrow art movement, and co-founder of "Juxtapoz," the world's most widely distributed art magazine.  The winner of this years surreal salon exhibit, will be featured in a future issue of this magazine.  "I felt honored to be a part of this up and coming pop-surreal/lowbrow movement.  The art world is constantly moving in many directions, but this is definitely one of the more interesting ones," say Pitre.
