Columbia police and MS Chapter of Wives Behind the Bade host blood drive

COLUMBIA, MS (WDAM) -

The Columbia Police Department and Mississippi Chapter of WIves Behind the Bade hosted a blood drive Friday to help the United Blood Services recover from critically low blood supplies.

Two United Blood Services Blood Mobilers were outside of City Hall and the POlice Department today calling on all in the community to donate the gift of life. United blood Services was already in short supply before this week's winter weather event, and the cancellations of blood drives resulting from the weather created a need for over 800 pints of blood just to meet the needs of hospitals.

"We are urging everybody to come by and give blood," said Columbia POlice CHeif Clint McMurry. "We need every drop of blood we can get."

To donate blood, contact United Blood Services in Hattiesburg to donate or sponsor blood drive of your own.
