NEW AUGUSTA, MISS., FRIDAY, JANUARY 31, 2014 –The American Red Cross South Mississippi Chapter has opened a shelter for residents impacted by today's train derailment in Perry County, Miss. The shelter is now open at the New Augusta Community Center located at 298 Willow Street in New Augusta.
"Residents should pack as if they are going on a small one- to two-day camping trip," said Angie Grajeda, Red Cross Disaster Program Manager. "Things to bring to the shelter include any necessary medication, snacks, beverages, lawn chairs, pillows and blankets."
Perry County Emergency Manager Dale Carnahan requested the Red Cross support.
