Columbia Police Department investigate armed robbery

COLUMBIA, MS (WDAM) -

Columbia Police are investigating an alleged armed robbery in a dark alley.

Detective Richard Pack said around 9:30 Monday night police received a call to the rear entrance of 708 Main Street on Honey Alley.

The three teenage victims stated that a black male, approximately 5'10 to 6 feet tall and wearing a mask, pulled out a handgun and demanded money.

One of the victims handed over a wallet with around 90 dollars in it. They also reported that a cell phone was taken from the car.

Detective Pack urges citizens to be weary of their surroundings. "This happened in an alley. No traffic at all; late at night. You need to be careful about your surroundings. Make sure you look around before you go outside. Lock your vehicles and if need be call us for a police escort, especially if you're going to make a bank deposit or you're closing up your business."

Police haven't yet developed a suspect and are continuing to investigate the incident.
