3 shot, 1 dead in string of home invasions

SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) -

One person is dead, another is injured and a third is fighting for her life after a string of home invasions late Tuesday night.

"Once I come outside I heard gunfire, I see two guys running in but one guy came out and you see the guy lying dead on the ground. We've got kids and stuff and there's gun fire everywhere, bullet holes all through people's windows and stuff, I just felt bad" Tresmone Kennedy, a neighbor, says.

Officers were called out to the Briarwood Apartment complex in the 4000 block of Golf Links Boulevard near Greenwood Road in West Shreveport just before midnight for a report of multiple shots fired.

According to SPD, a shootout occurred inside one of the apartments after two men and one woman reportedly barged in demanding money. Two of the robbers were armed with a rifle and a handgun. At least 3 people were shot, including a man who lives in the apartment.  He was reportedly grazed. He was taken to University Health and is expected to survive. "That's a lesson learned right there, don't run into anybody's house" Kennedy says.

Police say he fired back at the intruders, hitting two of the intruders.  One of them was pronounced dead at the scene when officers arrived. Police have not have not said if it was a female or male. Police say they have not found the other person believed to have been hit, but they say they did find a trail of blood outside the apartment, along with a ski mask. The two other intruders reportedly drove off in a red Chevy Impala.

The shooting at the Briarwood Apartments came on the heels of a break-in and shooting at the Kings Manor Apartments that left 1 woman seriously injured. Police say in that case, 2 men smashed the window of a car outside the apartment and took something from it before forcing their way into her apartment. There was an exchange of gunfire, and the woman was struck twice.

"Sat down on the couch and just waited and she knocked on the door bleeding to death," says Leroy Roberson. Roberson says he found his neighbor lying in the walkway bleeding. He says he called 9-1-1.

"Who did it, because she doesn't bother anybody. She just works and goes home," says Roberson.

She was taken to University Health in Shreveport with injuries that police describe as life-threatening. Her name and current condition have not been released.

Right now, Police are looking for 3 suspects in the King's Manor Apartment home invasion and 1 suspect in the Briarwood Apartment home invasion possibly a female.

If you have information you are urged to call Crimestoppers at (318) 673-7373.
