Leaf River Trail Riders ride on despite wintry weather

Posted: Updated:
HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) -

Members of the Leaf River Trail Riders braved the winter weather as their wagon train passed through Hattiesburg Tuesday afternoon.

The group left Benndale Saturday for their annual trip by covered wagon to the Dixie National Livestock Show and rodeo. The livestock show begins this Thursday and the rodeo will take place Feb., 6, to the Feb., 12. Covered wagon riding groups from all around the state take part in this annual tradition.

Though some of the group turned back Tuesday because of the weather, nine of the wagons filled with folks from the trail riders continued on. They expect to make it to Jackson sometime next week.

The livestock show will run through Feb 18.
