WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - Police say 21-year-old Grace Louise Denk was killed Tuesday morning in an officer-involved shooting, according to Linda Rawley with the Wilmington Police Department.

Rawley said officers responded to a domestic dispute between a male and female just after 1 a.m. near Sunglow Drive and Tabor Lane, off of North Kerr Avenue.

When officers arrived on scene, they found a female seated in the driver's seat of a silver vehicle. Moments later, shots were fired.

According to Rawley, the woman was taken to New Hanover Regional Medical Center where she was later pronounced dead.

A man who said he's Denk's boyfriend called 911 to report that she had run out of the house and thought she might try to kill herself.

"She's been sitting here texting me on the phone and I've been trying to talk her out of it and there's nothing I can do to help it, so I'm calling you guys," he said on the call.

The caller went on to explain to 911 that Denk had been drinking and that she had tried to kill herself in the past.

Two officers who were involved in the shooting are now on paid administrative leave. The SBI is handling the investigation, and the police department is conducting an internal investigation.
