Driver injured after plowing into a parked vehicle

JONES COUNTY, MS (WDAM) - This is a news release from the Jones County Fire Council

A young Jones County man was injured Tuesday afternoon, January 21, and six vehicles were damaged when he plowed into one of the parked vehicles in front of Oilfield Services office located on 184 East.

Shortly after 3 p.m. emergency medical responders and rescue units from Powers and Glade Volunteer Fire Departments responded to the accident where the 20-year old driver of a Mitsubishi Lancer apparently left the highway ran through the gravel parking lot and plowed into a white Chevrolet Silverado causing a domino effect of damage on six vehicles.

Four of the six vehicles were smashed into each other and a metal tool box from the white Silverado was thrown out, slide across the hood of the fifth vehicle in line, and the corner of the tool box slammed into the side of a sixth vehicle.

The 20-year old male driver was transported to South Central Regional Medical Center by EMServ ambulance service with what was believed to be non-life threatening injuries.

The cause of the accident remains under investigation by the Jones County Sheriff's Department.
