Laurel Police make arrest in weekend shooting, searching for last suspect

LAUREL, MS (WDAM) -

The Laurel Police Department responded to a shooting call on Sunday evening around 9 p.m. at the 1000 block of 10th avenue.

Upon arrival, officers found one male victim suffering from gunshot wounds, and he was then transported by a private vehicle to South Central Regional Medical Center for treatment.

Monday at 10:50 p.m. officers took 24-year-old suspect Albert Thompson into custody.  Thompson faces one count of aggravated assault. The LPD also arrested Bobby Joe Reed Jr. for the charge of accessory after the fact of aggravated assault Tuesday night.

The LPD are seeking out an additional suspect, Johnny Ray Smith Jr.

Lt. Jerome Jackson responded to the scene and will lead the investigation. The LPD ask that any further information about the case be forwarded to 601-425-4711 or Jones County Crime Stoppers at 601-428-7867.

    It's official: the University of Southern Mississippi was announced as one of 16 regional hosts for the 2017 NCAA Division I Baseball Championship.  Pete Taylor Park will host three other teams in the Hattiesburg Regional, with matchups beginning on June 2 and going through June 5 if needed, according to the NCAA.
