Jones County husband assaults wife with skinning knife

JONES COUNTY, MS (WDAM) -

This is a news release from Jones County Sheriff's Department

Jones County Sheriff's Deputies responded to a call on Panther Branch Road on December 29, 2013, in reference to a wife being assaulted by her husband. 

The victim told deputies that Harold Nelson Ainsworth became irate after a verbal altercation.  Ainsworth went to his truck, retrieved a skinning knife, grabbed the victim by the chin; put the knife to her throat which caused a laceration of approximately 4 inches in length. 

The suspect fled the scene before deputies arrived but was later taken into custody without incident. 

Ainsworth was charged with Aggravated Assault – Domestic Violence. 

Justice Court Judge Howell Beech set bond for Ainsworth at $5000.00.

    The new Miss Hospitality has been crowned in Hattiesburg.  She is Emma Grace McGrew, 18, of Booneville.
