Armed robbery at residence in Hebron Community

JONES COUNTY, MS (WDAM) -

This is a news release from Jones County Sheriff's Department

An Ellisville resident was charged with Armed Robbery of a Hebron man at his residence.  Jones County Sheriff's Department Investigators arrested Tylester L. Leverette of the 100 block of Mize Street in Ellisville on January 10, 2014.

The victim claims Leverette and Ricky Barnes (who is still at large) of Mt. Williams Road came to his home to visit him on the night of January 3, 2014.  The victim claims when the pair was attempting to leave, Barnes told the victim he owed him some money.  The victim then agreed to give the pair what he supposedly owed them but when he opened his wallet the pair pulled their guns, which appeared to be a chromed plated .380 pistol and a 9mm pistol.  They then took his money and attempted to force him into a black vehicle, later identified as a vehicle registered to Tylester Leverette.

The victim was able to flee the scene without being seriously injured.

Jones County Investigator Sgt. Tonya Madison has questioned Leverette and is still looking for Ricky Barnes.  Barnes is 55 years old and was last known to be in the Hattiesburg area with an unknown female.  If you know the whereabouts of Ricky Barnes, please contact the Jones County Sheriff's Department at 601-425-3147.

Leverette was charged with Armed Robbery.  Bond for Leverette was set at $10,000.00 by Justice Court Judge Howell Beech.
