This is a news release from Jones County Sheriff's Department

Jones County Narcotics Investigators arrested 34 year old Tina Thomas for Sale of a Controlled Substance. Investigators took Thomas into custody without incident on Thursday afternoon, January 16th, 2014.    Several prescription pills were recovered as well as cash that Thomas had received as payment for drugs.  Thomas has previously sold Hydrocodone pills on multiple occasions to an undercover police officer.  This arrest is part of an ongoing investigation into the illegal trafficking of dangerous drugs. 

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, drug overdose was the leading cause of injury death in 2010.  Among people 25 to 64 years old, drug overdose caused more deaths than motor vehicle traffic crashes.  In 2010, of the 38,329 drug overdose deaths in the United States, 22,134 (60%) were related to pharmaceuticals.
