Police officers spot fire at Bordeaux apartment complex

Posted: Updated:
NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) -

A Bordeaux apartment building went up in flames overnight, and if it wasn't for some very alert police officers, things could have gotten a lot worse.

Police were called to Haynes Garden Apartments off Whites Creek Pike on an unrelated call and saw heavy smoke coming from the J building.

The officers ran over to get everyone out, banging on doors to wake people up and get them outside.

Firefighters were able to get the flames out pretty quickly, and the fire was contained to one unit.

The woman who lives there was at a neighbor's place at the time of the fire. She says her stove has been coming on by itself recently.

Investigators have not released an official cause of the fire at this time.
