Simon City Royals gang members receive sentence in Federal Court

Two members of the Simon City Royals gang received their sentences in Federal Court Thursday afternoon.

David Vanderslice and Jack Bynum were surrounded by dozens of family members when they received their sentences.

Vanderslice was sentenced to serve 30 months in prison and Bynum 50 months. Judge Keith Starrlett voiced his observations of the two men actively pursuing a better lifestyle since their arrests.

The two gang members pleaded guilty in October to possession of a firearm and possession with intent to distribute more than 50 grams of methamphetamine.

The two men are connected with Jason Bullock, the alleged state gang leader of the Simon City Royals who is awaiting his sentencing for attempted murder and kidnapping.
