Jones Crimestoppers seeks help in solving home burglary

JONES COUNTY, MS (WDAM) -

Jones County authorities are asking for your help in solving a residential burglary that took place recently in the Moselle area.

It resulted in the loss of some furniture, electronics and firearms.

"Jones County authorities are investigating a residential burglary that occurred in the Moselle area. During this burglary, subjects stole several items, some pictured here, including a king-size, bedroom set, a black walnut dining room table and chairs, many, many other household items. Some of the other items include four flat-screen televisions, an Iver Johnson 410 shotgun and a Browning 12-gauge shotgun. Anybody who may have witnessed anyone hauling large amounts of furniture or household goods anytime since January the 4th from the Moselle area, or may have information as to the location of any of these goods, is asked to call the Jones County Crimestoppers at 601-428-7867 or the Jones County Sheriff's Department at 601-425-3147," said Wilbur Chamberlain, Jones County Crimestoppers coordinator.

    The University of Southern Mississippi ended Saturday’s regular-season baseball finale at Marshall University the same way it started, with a bang. The 18th-ranked Golden Eagles sent 13 batters to the plate in both the second and ninth innings, scoring eight runs in each, as USM finished off a first-ever sweep of the Thundering Herd on its home turf with a 18-9 victory at Epling Stadium.

    A man is recovering from injuries after he claims he was beaten by officers with the Laurel Police Department. Thirty-six-year-old James Barnett indicated the incident took place on Tuesday, May 15.
