Underdog Mississippi State visits Kentucky in SEC opener

(RNN) - Mississippi State and Kentucky have identical 10-3 records as the two teams open their SEC seasons at UK's Rupp Arena. No. 16 Kentucky, which has not played since the Dec. 28 win over Louisville,  is more than a 20-point favorite seeking its third straight win.

The game will tip at 8 p.m. ET on SEC TV. It will air on WAVE 3 in Louisville.

The Bulldogs, who have struggled on offense this season, are led by 6-3 sophomore guard Craig Sword, who is averaging 14.3 points per game – he's joined in double-figure average by forwards Gavin Ware, who averages 11.2 and Colin Borchart, 10.1 ppg.

The young Wildcats' 10-3 record comes against much stiffer competition -  and freshman Julius Randle is one of the best players in the country, averaging 18 points and 10.6 rebounds per game. UK smothered defending national champion Louisville in its last outing, holding the Cardinals to under 40 percent shooting.
