WDAM Viewpoint- Dangerously Cold Weather

Posted: Updated:

Temperatures in the Pine Belt could reach record lows over the next couple days. In fact we could see the longest extended cold spell we have seen in many years. Here are some things to consider.

Remember to check on your elderly neighbors and family members. Please take every precaution if you must use a space heater. Keep space heaters away from drapes, bedding or other flammable materials.

If you have car trouble, the Mississippi Highway Patrol urges motorists to call *MHP for assistance. Avoid taking to the road on foot since prolonged exposure outdoors can lead to hypothermia and frostbite.

As always, protect your pipes, plants and pets.
