Columbia Fire Department battles toy factory blaze

The Columbia Fire Department along with volunteer units battled a blaze at a toy factory at the north end of town Friday afternoon.

Just after 3 p.m., fire personnel were dispatched to the 1200 block of Martin Luther King Blvd. to find a the rear section of a warehouse engulfed with flames reaching 30-feet-high.

The warehouse across from Piggly Wiggly is used by a local businessman to make toys. The rear of a church next to the warehouse also sustained damage.

Columbia fire and police are investigating the fire. No word yet as to what caused the blaze.
