Two Lamar families homeless after Thursday fire

LAMAR COUNTY, MS (WDAM) -

Two Lamar County families are homeless after a fire gutted their apartments Thursday afternoon.

It happened at a duplex near the intersection of Lincoln Road and Oak Grove Road about 3:30 p.m.

The fire began in back of one of the apartments and heavily damaged the interior of both.

Two firefighters from Oak Grove and Northeast Lamar Fire Departments did respond quickly to the scene and kept the blaze from spreading.

No one was hurt and no cause has been determined.
