Miranda Beard was born and raised in the small town of Humboldt, Tennessee, the oldest of three children. She attended the University of Mississippi where she graduated with a Bachelors of Arts Degree in Broadcast Journalism with emphasis in Public Relations. Miranda interned at WHBQ-TV in Memphis, Tennessee before joining the WDAM-TV news team in 1986 as a reporter. Eventually, she became a Bureau Chief and began anchoring the weekend news, producing and managing weekend assignments. Currently, she is the Assistant News Director, News 7 Today and Midday anchor at WDAM-TV.
Miranda served eight years as a commissioner for the Mississippi Employment Security Commission under Governor Kirk Fordice. "My involvement in the community goes beyond the confines of the television station. I want to be one of the movers and shakers to help build strong relationships and a better community. For a long time, I have wanted to make a difference and getting involved in the community on the state and local levels allowed me the opportunity to do so." In addition to working as a professional journalist and community advocate, Miranda enjoys public speaking, reading, teaching Sunday school and cooking up a feast for family and friends.
