Red Wolf fans send off team to Go Daddy Bowl

JONESBORO, AR (KAIT)- The Red Wolves were sent out in style Wednesday morning. Fans surrounded players as they boarded the bus and headed out.

"I don't think they've met up with the guys with this kind of heart and integrity so I'm looking forward to the Red Wolves go down and get another Go Daddy Bowl win," said Red Wolf fan, Mark Haney.

Tempest Thornton said she wanted to surprise her bother Sirgregory Thornton on his last game of the season.

"It's going to be like really bitter sweet to watch his last game," she said and then was surprised by her brother.

"It's a great feeling, they surprised me you know, family is everything and having their love and support has been great, you know it's my senior year," said Sirgregory Thronton. "It's my last game so it's good having my mom and my sister here just showing their love and support, they're the best."

Red Wolf fans said it's important to see the team off and they look forward to this conference every year.

"I think it's huge for them but it's also huge for the younger guys to know that we're still here, that we still support the team no matter what's going on as far as coaching changes and all the other stuff," said Red Wolf fan, Gary Miranda.

"I think they got a great chance, if you look at the teams Ball State beat, most of them have losing records," Haney said.

Though she stands at just 4-foot-10, Aimee Durn is a force for the Jones County Junior College women's soccer club. The short freshman from England is a big reason the Lady Bobcats are 5-0-1. "They say big things come in small packages and that's very true for Aimee," said tenth-year JCJC women's soccer coach Dolores Deasley.

After a week without a football game, the University of Southern Mississippi may be getting some of their walking wounded back as the Golden Eagles prepare to open Conference USA play Saturday with a visit from the University of North Texas. But USM will be down an assistant football coach. USM coach Jay Hopson confirmed Monday that running backs coach Lytrel Pollard was “not with us right now.”
