Pine Belt businesses gear up for New Years Eve festivities

HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) -

The 2013 year has come to a close, and 2014 is merely hours away. Many Pine Belt residents will be looking for a place to ring in the New Year, and several places from downtown to West Hattiesburg have special events planned for the public.

Skylight Lounge Downtown will have a midnight champagne toast with live music by Ralph Nixon and the Catfish Gospel.

Just across the street, The Boom Boom Room will feature live music by Purpetrator and Paradox Charlie

The Hippo will premiere their new back bar which will host future live music events.

Nick's Ice House will also feature live music by The Hounds.

In Midtown, Vaughn Vosarge General Manager of Marlins Seafood, and Josh Rogers, a chef at Patio 44, will feature different dinner and drink specials.

"From 10 to close we will have two for one all liquors, $1 off all beers, and two for one house wines," said Vosarge.

"We are offering a four course chefs toasting menu with wine samples to go with each course," said Rogers.

And in West Hattiesburg, Canebreak Country Club members can celebrate 2014 with a James Bond theme party .

"We are gonna do a champagne toast, we have a James Bond bar being set up, and outdoors we have a pretty neat cigar bar as well," said Joe Langford, General Manager for Canebreak Country Club.

    The Mississippi All-Stars wrapped up its third practice at Hattiesburg High school ahead of the 31st Mississippi/Alabama All-star game on Saturday at noon. Although Saturday’s contest at Southern Miss’ M.M. Roberts Stadium in Hattiesburg is just an exhibition, the Mississippi players are taking it seriously.
