Eight in custody following Tuesday drug raid in Jones County

JONES COUNTY, MS (WDAM) -

Eight people are behind bars following a Tuesday drug raid on Sellers Rd. in Moselle.

SGT. Robert Little from the narcotics division says the raid was conducted after a long investigation of alleged illegal activities on the property. They began the investigation after receiving numerous complaints about the people from concerned citizens in the neighborhood. During the raid the deputies found a large quantity of drugs, several firearms, and stolen merchandise including firearms and a utility trailer. Little says they returned to the property several times Tuesday to make more arrests.

Five of the charged have been identified. They are Benjamin Morgan, Robert Reus, Patrick Walker, Bridgette Massey, and Michael Stancel. Little says the eight face multiple misdemeanor and felony charges.

"The charges are being sorted out to who is being charged with what," said Little. "We have a convicted felon with being in possession of a weapon. We have numerous drug charges involving a lot of different people both inside and outside the residence."

Several juveniles who inside the home were turned over to adults and the Department of Human Services has been contacted.
