LSU defeats McNeese State 79-52

BATON ROUGE, LA (RNN) – The LSU Tigers soundly defeated the McNeese State Cowboys 79-52 Saturday.

It's the fifth-straight win for the Bayou Bengals (9-2). Their last loss came on Nov. 29 against then No. 21-ranked Memphis.

After overcoming a slow start, LSU began to dominate the Cowboys (2-10) at the end of the first half. The Tigers blew the Cowboys away to end the first half with a 28-5 run, after trailing 17-16. LSU held McNeese State to 25 points in the first half and 27 points in the second half, led by a Jarell Martin double-double (14 points and 10 rebounds).

Forwards Johnny O'Bryant III and Shavon Coleman both scored 16 points for the Tigers, with Coleman coming off the bench.

LSU outrebounded the Cowboys 54-29 and completed 82 percent of its free throw shots.

The Tigers will host the Rhode Island Rams on Thursday, Jan. 2.
