Remembering the Pine Belt: Reggie Barber

This is Reggie Barber born November 8, 1949 who pass away June 23rd 2013 .In our home town of Foxworth / Columbia he was known as A True American Hero. Reggie went o Vietnam while in Vietnam Reggie was injured loosing both legs and had a mangled hand and arm. Reggie touched may of lives especially in Marion County. From the days of Columbia Academy as the football trainer and equipment manger where he came to be loved by students and teachers, to visiting with friends as he drove through town, he loved to stop at his favorite place to park and talk with friends even law enforcement My cousin wrote in a special tribute to my sweet brother this will probably some it up about Reggie. His love reminds me of the song " Wind Beneath My Wings." The lyrics read "You are the wind beneath my wings." He soared high because of the love that he had for us. We were the "wind beneath his wings". The sacrifice that Reggie has given to America is not a burden that he has to carry any longer. For now he can say to all of us as we remain here in this life with its struggles and strife "Heaven Will Surely Be Worth it All." - LaDonna Barber King
