Remembering the Pine Belt: Lavada Owens

We lost my dear sweet mother, Lavada Owens, July 14, 2013 at the age of 92. She was the glue that held our family together. The last nine days of her life she was on hospice at home. Our entire family never left her side the entire time. It brought us closer together and that's what she wanted. She planned her entire funeral before slipping into a coma a few days before she passed. We were all beside her when she made her homecoming into the pearly gates of heaven. I asked her if she saw Jesus and she shook her head yes and took her last breath. Oh the joy of being in the presence of Jesus as he came and took my mother home and she was reunited with my Daddy after 26 years!!! She left behind one daughter, three grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, and five great-great grandchildren who love and miss her dearly. But we know she is rejoicing with The Lord! We will see you again one day soon Mother! - Faye Houts Engle
