ELLISVILLE, MS (WDAM) - Several volunteers gave up a portion of their Christmas day to serve many who otherwise might not get to enjoy Christmas.
Creel's Diner on 588 in Ellisville opened their doors for from 10 a.m. till 2 p.m. to serve up a free traditional Christmas dinner of turkey, stuffing, and all the fixings. Not only did they serve the meal at the diner, they also loaded up their cars with meals and presents to deliver to the homeless, elderly, Ellisville State School, and many who had to work on Christmas day.
By days end they had delivered more than 150 Christmas presents and meals.
"There's so many people out there who don't have families to go to at Christmas,"said Robin Russell, volunteer. "We are all blessed that were able to have family and there's some people who do not have that."
This is the first year Creel's has done this Christmas event and they say they plan on continuing it in the future."
