Mississippi State faces UNVL in Vegas Classic finals

(RNN) - Mississippi State (9-2) won its fourth straight game when it slipped by South Florida 71-66 on Sunday to advance the finals against the UNLV Runnin' Rebels at Orleans Arena on Monday night. The game tips at 10:30 p.m. ET, but is not being broadcast on TV.

UNLV (7-4) dropped Santa Clara 92-71 for its fourth-straight win, also on Sunday.

Gavin Ware scored 10 points and grabbed 15 rebounds to help the Bulldogs past USF, and continued its tough defensive play.

Roscoe Smith averages 12.8 points and 13.2 rebounds for the Rebels. Bryce Deheans-Joesn 12.2 ppg and Khem Birch 11.8/9.5 are also offensive contributors.

The Bulldogs' Craig Sword has scored in double figures each of the last 10 games, helping his team into position to win its 10th game this year - last year, MSU only managed a 10-22 record.

    A Jones County man has been charged with fraud after reportedly using a false identity to collect funds. Jones County Sheriff's Investigators said John Umstead, 49, of Laurel was working under a contract with a medical  coding company using another's identity.
