HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) - Several volunteers were at the Home Instead Senior Care in Oak Grove Wednesday wrapping Christmas gifts that will be given out to needy seniors in the coming week.
It's part of the Santa to a Senior program put on by Home Instead in conjunction with several non-profit agencies and local retailers. For the past few weeks a Christmas tree with ornaments containing the names of area seniors has been on display at Turtle Creek Mall. Folks would take ornaments off the tree and purchase a gift for whoever's name was on it.
This year the program is going to make Christmas brighter for 800 to 1000 seniors.
"It was fantastic. The people of Hattiesburg always rise to the occasion and again this year they have been very generous in purchasing gifts," said Anna Edenfield, Owner, Home Instead Senior Care.
Home Instead has been making Christmas merrier for area seniors the last five-years.
