ATHENS, AL (WAFF) -

Investigators described "an overwhelming odor" of pot coming from a residence during a grow bust in Limestone County Monday.

A tip led narcotics investigators to a home on the 17000 block of Red Hill Road. Jesse Steven Chandler gave officers permission to search the home. He told them he was growing marijuana on the premises and that he had cut it and was drying it out.

Investigators found approximately 20 plants and equipment commonly used to grow pot inside the home.

Chandler was arrested for illegal possession of marijuana in the first degree and possession of drug paraphernalia.

He is in jail on $6,000 bond.
