SCOTTSBORO, AL (WAFF) -

Plans made by the Jackson County Legislative Delegation to renovate and relocate to Scottsboro City Hall are now on hold.

At Monday morning's meeting, the board was expected to vote to hire an architect to do the plans for the new legislative office, but that did not happen.

The delegation wants to move from their current building and into the third floor of the city hall. They spent approximately $125,000 last year on the purchase of another building on the downtown square. The roof was replaced and the building gutted before the move was abandoned.

Senator Shadrack McGill said they now plan on giving the building to the county, but the commission hasn't voted to accept it yet.

Compounding the problem is some bad economic news.

"We received news today that the TVA, in lieu of tax money, will be cut again by three percent. With that, we need to do some much needed calculations and accounting work as to what our budget is going to look like for 2014," McGill said.

The issue is expected to be addressed again when the board meets Jan. 6.
