HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) - Thousands of people visited downtown Hattiesburg Saturday night to get a glimpse of what Christmas would have looked like 100 years ago. Celtic music filled the air around the old Walthall School and dozens of folks took old-fashioned, horse-drawn carriage rides as part of the 38th annual Victorian Candlelit Christmas.
It was hosted by the Historic Hattiesburg Neighborhood Association.
It was held in conjunction with a holiday art walk and other activities in the downtown area.
If you missed the event Saturday, many of the activities will be hosted again Sunday evening.
The event dates back to 1976, when neighbors wanted to do something special to celebrate the nation's bicentennial.
