(WMC-TV) - A Memphis optometrist remains in the hospital after two men reportedly attacked him in his home garage, according to police.

Dr. Burton Bodan, 85, told police he arrived at his East Memphis home from a liquor store and parked in his garage Thursday. He was met by two middle-aged men when he stepped out of the car.

The men told Bodan to give them everything; he told them there was nothing to give. The two men beat him and took his wallet with several unknown credit cards and $300 in cash.

When police arrived after the incident, officials sent him to The MED in critical condition.

Bodan has worked in his practice for more than 50 years. He began seeing patients at The Eyewear Gallery in 2007.

Anyone with information should call Crime Stoppers at 901-528-CASH.
