Kentucky travels to North Carolina for huge game

(RNN) - Kentucky (8-2) faces a major test when it travels to No. 21 North Carolina on Saturday when two of the winningest programs in NCAA basketball history face off.

The Wildcats are first in all-time NCAA wins with 2,119; UNC is third with 2,096.

Kentucky coach John Calipari told Rivals.com he doesn't expect he'll have to motivate his young team, which is ranked 10th in the nation.

"It's Carolina-Kentucky," he said. "What do I got to do? I need a Knute Rockne speech? It's Carolina Kentucky."

The Wildcats are coming off a convincing 70-55 win over Boise State on Tuesday in Lexington.

Calipari he expected UNC to play its best game all year.

The Tar Heels (6-2) have been a tad inconsistent this year. They were upset by Belmont in November and by UAB on Dec. 1, but have hammered Louisville and Michigan State.

UNC is led by three players averaging double figures. Sophomore Marcus Paige hits 18.8 points per game and has hit 20 threes and dished a team-leading 36 assists. Brice Johnson averages 13.6 points and a team-leading 6.9 rebounds.

Kentucky is 127-63 all-time against the Atlantic Coast Conference, but UNC leads the series between the two schools, 22-13.
