Southern Cross Animal Rescue will host Pet Party Adopt-a-thon in Laurel

LAUREL, MS (WDAM) -

This is a news release from Southern Cross Animal Rescue

Southern Cross Animal Rescue will be at PetSense in Laurel Saturday from noon to 5 p.m. for their first ever Pet Party Adopt-a-Thon.

Several of their animals available for adoption will be present for a meet and greet with potential families. Attendees can also enjoy refreshments, balloons, face painting for children, and a cake celebrating the occasion. Everyone is welcome to come out and support the event.

SCAR is a no kill rescue in Jones County that aims to impact the severe overpopulation problem in the south by not only rescuing animals, but also helping through educating the public, community outreach, foster networks and transport programs. For more information on SCAR, call 601-433-5807.

    Southern Miss baseball will be missing four key contributors when the its season opens against Mississippi State on February 16. Hayden Roberts, Taylor Braley, Kirk McCarty and Dylan Burdeaux wrapped up their first minor league seasons in the fall. Roberts, a 34th round MLB draftee of the Colorado Rockies, struck out 45 batters in 21 games with the Grand Junction Rockies.
