Miss. arsonist gets 15 years as habitual offender

GULFPORT, Miss. (AP) - A judge has sentenced an arsonist to 15 years in prison for setting fire to a rental home in Gulfport.

Circuit Judge Lisa Dodson sentenced 39-year-old Sonnie Lamont Anderson on Monday as a habitual offender in Harrison County Circuit Court. He will not be eligible for parole.

The Sun Herald reports (http://bit.ly/19E6W8b ) Anderson pleaded guilty to first-degree arson Oct. 28.

It is his second arson conviction and sixth felony conviction within 21 years.

He admitted setting fire to a home Dec. 13, 2012.

Prosecutors said Anderson has five felony convictions, including a 1992 conviction for the arson. He was convicted on felony drug charges and for shooting into an unoccupied dwelling between 1992 and 1998.
