JCJC men's basketball coach Jay Ladner and his Bobcats are 8-0 to start the season and because of that early season success, the team earned themselves a spot in the latest NJCAA poll.
The Bobcats are 25th in the latest rankings and the only school from the MACJC on the list.
JCJC leads the state in scoring and are 8th in the nation in that category with 103.4 points per game.
The team's next game is on the road at William Carey against their JV squad December 17.
With the Bobcats success an individual on the undefeated team earned some recognition as well.
Sophomore forward Johnny Zuppardo, has been named the MACJC Player of the Week for the second week in a row.
The Southern Miss transfer averaged 19 points and 16 rebounds during play last week.
"It's been real fun. We've been working real hard and the main thing is we've got to stay humble and we've got to keep working everyday because teams are getting out there and they're working just like us. Everybody's got the same goal in mind," the 6'9" Kiln, MS, native said.
"I had the opportunity to coach Johnny at St. Stanislaus beginning in the 7th grade," Ladner said at the end of the team's practice.
"So, we've kind of journeyed a bit together. He's just been outstanding. We expected great things from him. He's just really played well this year and he's got a lot of schools, big Division-I schools interested in him."
