GAINESVILLE, FL (RNN) - No. 19 Florida dominated most of the game and grabbed their first win over a ranked opponent this season, defeating No. 13 Kansas 67-61 at home on Tuesday.

The Gators (7-2) struggled a little at first, allowing the Jayhawks (6-3) to get a seven-point lead four minutes into the game. But Florida bounced back quickly, scoring 21 unanswered  points and leading 36-21 at the half. Kansas attempted a last-minute charge that got them within five points of Florida, but the Gators held out with the help of some free throws.

Florida made half of their 14 3-pointers compared to Kansas' 8-of-19. Kansas led in field goals and free throws, however, making 19 of their 44 field goals and 15 of their 19 free throws.

Scottie Wilbekin led the Gators with a career-high 18 points, six assists and four steals.

This is Florida's first win over a ranked team this season. The Gators lost to then-No. 20 Wisconsin and then-No. 12 Connecticut - both road games.

The game was part of the 2013 Big 12/SEC Challenge. The Big 12 leads 6-3 with one game left to be played.

Florida will play their third ranked opponent in a row against No. 16 Memphis on Tuesday, Dec. 17 at Madison Square Garden in New York City.
