Habitat for Humanity Hattiesburg launches new program

The Hattiesburg area Habitat for Humanity launched a new program on Monday called "2 x 4 x U."

This is a program designed for the community to help build a home by sponsoring a two by four piece of wood. It takes over 300 studs to frame a Hattiesburg area Habitat for Humanity home. A two by four sponsorship is available at $200 per stud. Each two by four sponsor will be invited to a viewing event where teams will be able to "spot studs" in a house frame.

"It takes about three hundred two by fours to frame each of the houses that we build," said Laura Goodwin-Wright, Resource Developer at Habitat for Humanity.

"By offering the two by fours for you to decorate, you purchase it, bring it back, and it will help us fund an entire house."

The two by fours will be available for pickup at the Hattiesburg area Habitat for Humanity office at 5191 Highway 42 in Hattiesburg between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m., today through December 13. Two by fours will also be available on the event date, Saturday, December 14, from 1 to 2 p.m.

Sponsorships must be submitted by December 14.
