Deputy and Police Officer of the Year announced in Bay Springs

BAY SPRINGS, MS (WDAM) - The Rotary Club hosted a reception and ceremony for the announcement of the Police Officer and Deputy of the Year at Bay Springs City Hall.

Captain Tony Holder was awarded Officer of the Year by the Bay Springs Police Department and Sergeant Daniel Moulds was awarded Deputy of the Year by the Jasper County Sheriff's Department.

"Being a small department, we wear a lot of different hats," explained Assistant Police Chief Tony Wedgeworth. "Tony, he doesn't only supervise the patrol, he helps with investigations, he's always here when you need him. He's just an all-around great asset to this department and that's the reason we picked him."

"We chose Sergeant Deputy Daniel Moulds," said Sheriff Chris Sergeant. "We're really proud of him, we think a lot of him. He's a good guy, a real humble guy. He deserves this, he really does."

A catered luncheon preceded the ceremony. Attendees included fellow officers, family, and friends.
