GE Aviation and South Central Medical host Movember event

LAUREL, MS (WDAM) - Throughout the month of November, GE Aviation and Southern Central Regional Medical Center have "faced off" in a "Movemeber" event to see which company could grow the best moustaches.

Movember was enacted to shine a light on men's health issues ranging from testicular cancer to high cholesterol. Laurel Mayor Johnny Magee said "Movember" should spark change in men across the Pine Belt.

"It comes a part of your every day life and it's a lifestyle change, but it'll be good for us, it's good for us to be healthy so that we can be around for a long time," said Magee. "

"Testicular Cancer, prostate cancer, and mental health are big issues with men. If you're a man, get yourself checked for these things if you have a man in your life," said President of South Central Regional Medical Center's Doug Higginbothom.

A total of 64 men competed at the "Movember" event, while women sported fake moustaches to encourage men's health as well. Judge's named GE Aviation as winners of Movember 2013 on Monday.
