Pine belt retailers embrace benefits of Cyber Monday

HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) - US Online Sales are expected to hit 2 billion dollars on Cyber Monday for the very first time since the Data Analysis Company "Comscore" tracked Black Friday information.

After Black Friday, online shopaholics take to the Internet for online discounts. The Owner of Downtown Hattiesburg's Click Boutique and Gallery said their social media presence, coupled with their website makes a difference in their business dynamics.

"Because of the digital age, and how it's changed things, I'm no longer competing with my fellow boutiques in Hattiesburg; I'm competing with corporations like J. Crew and Anthropologie," said Jason Le'viere, owner of Click Boutique.

Le'viere said he's throwing in a "happy" for those customers who choose to shop on Cyber Monday.

"We've decided to toss in a pack of our hashtag pencils, which are decorated with our favorite social media tags on them for anyone who shops with us on Cyber Monday," said Le'viere.

Just uptown, Randy Price said their business also soared due to online sales.

"We were fortunate enough to have a guy come onboard with us who is tech-savvy who operates our website and online advertisements," Price said.

"Our numbers are big this year, as far as percent increases, because we weren't selling anything last year online, and we're selling a lot online this year."

According to IBM Analytics, a spike in online sales rose nationally by more than 21 percent on December 2.
