PHOENIX (CBS5) -

The woman charged with first-degree murder in the death of her daughter was in court Monday for a pretrial conference.

Jerice Hunter is accused of killing Jhessye Shockley and disposing of her body in a Tempe dumpster as many as two weeks before reporting Jhessye missing in October 2011.

Two and a half years later, Jhessye's body still has not been found.

Family members who raised Jhessye for the first four years of her life have filed a notice of claim with Child Protective Services, saying the agency was grossly negligent by returning Jhessye to her mother.

In court on Friday, the judge set Hunter's next pretrial hearing for May 30. Her trial is expected to get underway Aug. 4, 2014. The judge said she and some of the attorneys may be working on capitol cases that could delay that start date.
