COLLINS, MS (WDAM) - Residents of the Collins neighborhood where two men were shot and killed earlier this week gathered Saturday night to pray for togetherness and an end to violence in their community. Several dozen people got together for a prayer vigil on Dewey Street, just steps from where Devin Booker, 30, and Tim Feazell, 20, were found shot Tuesday night.
One man died at the scene, the other died at the hospital.
A relative of one of the victims said the two men shot each other.
Police are still investigating and haven't commented about a possible motive for the shooting.
"It has really touched me," said Alfrieda Smith, a Dewey Street resident and organizer of the vigil. "I just hate to feel like we have that much hate and crime in our area, because this street has never been like this. And we just want to take our street back, show love and unity and come together as one," she said.
Several local pastors and many residents spoke during the vigil.
