HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) - The Mississippi Highway Patrol is reminding motorists to drive with extra caution during the next few days of the Thanksgiving holiday. Increased numbers of state troopers will be patrolling the highways beginning Wednesday night through Sunday night.
And they are reminding drivers to buckle up, obey speeding laws and avoid distracted driving.
"We're also encouraging the public that if they're traveling on a four-lane highway to use the right lane," said Trooper First Class Brent Barfield of the Mississippi Highway Patrol. "The left lane is only used for overtaking or passing," he said.
The holiday period for the Mississippi Highway Patrol ends at midnight Sunday.
