HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) - A Hattiesburg organization which provides after-school activities for children is taking donations to help needy families this Christmas. The Oseola McCarty Youth Development Center is preparing for its 9th annual Operation Christmas Sleeve.
The center will provide clothing, toys and other items to dozens of underprivileged families for the holidays.
Center director Janet Baldwin said the center is in particular need of toys and boys clothing.
"We're trying to make sure each child has one clothing item and one toy item," said Baldwin. "The Lord always makes a way, so I am very confident we will get the help that we need," she said.
The gifts will be distributed during a holiday program at the center on Dec. 19.
