Hattiesburg-Laurel Regional Airport runs a simulated plane crash exercise

All manner of emergency response converged upon the Hattiesburg-Laurel Regional Airport Tuesday for a simulated plane crash exercise.

Executive Director Tom Heanue says these exercises are required every three years by the Federal Aviation Administration. Airport officials, fire department, and all manner of first response agencies coordinated to manage the crash scenario.

Jones County Junior College students acted as victims and the deceased on scene as paramedics, including those from Baptist Life-Flight tended to and transported the wounded. Jones County Sheriff's Office and E-M-A created a triage and Emergency Operations Command Center.
