Life goes on for Southern Miss football and the team they face this week has the 4th best rushing attack in Conference USA.
Middle Tennessee State averages 195 yards per game on the ground and the Blue Raiders are fresh off a 48-0 victory over FIU gaining 249 yards in the process.
The Golden Eagles relinquished 333 yards to Florida Atlantic Saturday, and coaches spoke about the tough task ahead.
"Middle Tennessee poses a number of problems for you defensively. They've got an experienced quarterback who can run and throw," Head Coach Todd Monken said at the team's weekly press conference.
"You've got good skill guys in the backfield and on the perimeter. So, it's gonna be a real challenge."
Defensive coordinator David Duggan said he'll leave no stone unturned in trying to fix the run defense.
"There is not a thing that goes by that we're not critically evaluating and trying to get it corrected for next week because as I said all along, if you don't fix something it's gonna come back and bite you."
Southern Miss is ranked 13th in rushing defense in the C-USA.
