TUSCALOOSA, AL (WBRC) -

The Tuscaloosa County Sheriff's Department says that state troopers have arrested one of their deputies on DUI charges.

Chief Deputy Ron Abernathy confirms troopers arrested deputy Patrick Bailey Friday. Bailey has bonded out of jail and has been placed on paid administrative leave. He also faces disciplinary action from the Sheriff's Department.

Officials say that Bailey is allegedly involved in an accident during which an 18-wheeler was struck near exit 79 on I-20/59 southbound. The wreck happened around 3:30 a.m. Friday when troopers say Bailey was off duty and in a personal vehicle.

The driver of the 18-wheeler was treated and released from DCH Regional Medical Center.
